Lukas Podolski is a German former professional footballer who played as a forward. He is considered one of the best German footballers of his generation, and is best known for his powerful left foot and goalscoring prowess.

Podolski began his career with local club FC 07 Bergheim in 1995, and joined 1. FC Köln in 1999. He made his Bundesliga debut for Köln in 2003, and quickly became one of the most promising young players in the league. In 2006, he was named the Bundesliga Player of the Year, and helped Köln win the DFB-Pokal in 2008.

Podolski left Köln in 2009 to join Bayern Munich. He spent three seasons with Bayern, winning the Bundesliga title in 2010 and 2013, and the DFB-Pokal in 2010 and 2013. In 2012, he was part of the Bayern team that won the UEFA Champions League, and was named the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year.

Podolski left Bayern in 2015 to join Arsenal. He spent two seasons with Arsenal, winning the FA Cup in 2017. In 2017, he joined Galatasaray, and spent two seasons with the Turkish club, winning the Süper Lig in 2018.

Podolski returned to Köln in 2019, and spent one season with the club before retiring in 2020. He made over 500 appearances for Köln, scoring over 150 goals, and is considered one of the club's greatest ever players.

International career

Podolski made his international debut for Germany in 2004, and went on to make over 100 appearances for his country. He was a member of the German team that won the FIFA World Cup in 2014, and was also a member of the team that finished third at the UEFA European Championship in 2006 and 2016.

Podolski is a legend of German football, and is one of the most decorated players in the history of the game. He is a true ambassador for the sport, and continues to inspire young players all over the world.
