Labour pledges 'iron-clad' support for Ukraine
Shadow ministers visit Kyiv to assure counterparts
Labour's shadow foreign secretary, David Lammy, and shadow defence secretary, John Healey, travelled to Kyiv this month to assure their counterparts of the party's continued support for Ukraine.
'Iron-clad commitment'
In a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said that a Labour government would have an "iron-clad commitment" to supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression.
"We stand with Ukraine in its fight for freedom and democracy," Starmer said. "A Labour government will provide the strongest possible support to Ukraine, both militarily and economically."
Unwavering support
Lammy and Healey echoed Starmer's comments, saying that Labour's support for Ukraine was "unwavering." They said that a Labour government would continue to provide military aid to Ukraine, as well as economic and humanitarian assistance.
"We are committed to ensuring that Ukraine has the resources it needs to defend itself and to rebuild its country," Lammy said.
Healey added: "We will not rest until Ukraine has achieved victory over Russia and has secured its future as a free and independent nation."
